To honor Gay Pride '98, Centaur Records has released another electrifying dance music compilation that showcases recent club hits. Sequenced by Circuit DJ Julian Marsh, this two-disc recording has something for
everyone.
Modern technology revives Mama Cass to lead off the set with her signature "Make Your Own Kind of Music"-a fitting anthem for our community. Other familiar songs include Wham's "Careless Whisper" (remade by perennial club artist favorite Sarah
Washington), and Tammy Wynette's "Stand By Your Man." Queen of Scots would have Tammy turning in her grave upon hearing their revolutionary cover of her hit record (or would they, considering Tammy did team up with KLF in 1992 to record "Stand By The Jams?").
Seventies music aficionados will recognize DeCaprio's remake of John Paul Young's "Love is in the Air." Gigabyte pays tribute to Talk Talk with their rendition of "It's My Life." "Shout to the Top" features the voice of Loleatta Hollowly (vocalist on Black Box's "Ride On Time”).
Disc 2 is ushered in with Big C featuring Alice and their dance epic "Daylight." One listen and you're drawn to this alternating rhythm masterpiece. “The Promise" by Es-
sence is hauntingly enjoyable, and the everpopular Sunscreem shines again with the driving "Love You More." The chanting "Floribunda" by Mother's Pride is sheer ear candy, as is "Perfect Day" by Indigo. This song is sure to have you up and dancing no matter how rhythmically impaired you happen to be.
Pride 98's unyielding energy and nostalgic song selection makes it an excellent addition for your next party as well as for Saturday afternoon house cleaning. Although Pride month is officially over, don't despair. Purchase Pride '98 and enjoy the sounds of our community year-round.

Sequel to Before Stonewall will bring it to the present
PBS is planning to produce a follow-up to their Emmy award-winning documentary Before Stonewall that will document gay and lesbian life following landmark New York riots of 1969.
Executive producers John Scagliotti and Vic Basile announced June 29 the start of production for After Stonewall, the sequel to Before Stonewall.
The film will chronicle the history of the gay and lesbian community following the 1969 Stonewall riots.
Production began during Pride month in June and will continue throughout the sum-
mer in the United States and locations abroad, including coverage of the Gay Games in Amsterdam. After Stonewall will focus on the unprecedented growth of the gay and lesbian community since the historic riots in New York. Production is scheduled to be completed by June of 1999, for release during the 30th anniversary of the Stonewall riots.
"These are the images that have forever changed the way America and the world looks at its gay and lesbian citizens," said Scagliotti. "These people and their stories
prompted our country to question its own

Gay cowboy movie is coming
The Hollywood trade magazine Variety reported June 30 that openly gay Gus Van Sant has been picked by Columbia Pictures to direct Brokeback Mountain, a love story about two gay cowboys.
The film is from a script by Pulitzer Prizewinning Lonesome Dove novelist Larry McMurtry and Diana Ossana, his writing partner. Scott Rudin will produce with Van Sant, McMurtry and Ossana, the Variety report said.
The screenplay was adapted from a story written by Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Annie L. Proulx.
Proulx's story, which was published in
the Oct. 13, 1997, issue of New Yorker magazine, is a work of fiction about two contemporary cowboys who fall madly in love, but also have families. Ultimately, each has to make a choice.
Van Sant's next directorial effort is the soon-to-be-released remake of Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho. He also recently directed Good Will Hunting. Production for Brokeback Mountain will begin next sum-
mer.
So, we weren't imagining it
It turns out that the covert lesbianism between Xena and her sidekick Gabrielle wasn't just the imagination of wishful-thinking fans.
According to Xena: Warrior Princess costar Rene O'Connor, the queer subtext was intentionally planned from the beginning.
"There was a time when we played with the idea, just being silly," O'Connor told TV Guide recently.
That "idea" later translated into scenes of Xena and Gabrielle kissing and sharing long meaningful glances, or Gabrielle asking Xena to join her for a bath. O'Connor said the coy sex play has been de-emphasized in recent seasons, as the show has moved from a cult favorite to a more mainstream hit.
Lucy Lawless, who plays Xena, and the people behind the show have had a lot of fun keeping fans guessing about the lead characters' sexuality, but O'Connor is the first to say it was intentional all along.
Production for a fourth Xena: Warrior Princess season, is currently under way in New Zealand. From wire reports
